Summary

  • Genjutsus are one of the main types of attacks in this game. These techniques are focused on creating illusions and messing with one's perception.
  • Unlike Taijutsu or Ninjutsu, Genjutsu does not require you to make contact with the opponent in order to damage them and can be used from a safe distance.
  • Damage caps for Genjutsu scale with the Control stat. Stat boost damage always applies and boosts beyond the cap but scales harshly.
  • Genjutsu Kai: An innate ability that gives everyone the chance to release the effects of a Genjutsu simply by tapping or holding X (Block) while under one.
You will need a similar level of Genjutsu Knowledge and Base Control in order to successfully Kai another player's Genjutsu.
When releasing a Genjutsu via Kai, you take half the damage you would normally take from that Genjutsu.
  • There are three main types of Genjutsu: Target, Area of Effect and Remote

Target Genjutsus require the user to have the opponent targeted before they can use the technique. Due to this, these techniques will generally only affect one person at a time.

Can be cast from a further distance compared to an AoE Genjutsu.
The effect will wear off if either the victim OR the user is hit. (Keep this in mind if you cannot Kai the Genjutsu)
Only drains chakra upon activating a Genjutsu.
While a Target Genjutsu is active, it gets weaker after every tick by 5% until it reaches 60% of its original damage (2.5% with Super Genjutsu).
When breaking a Genjutsu by damaging yourself:
:* You take a damage hit equal to the caster's base Control x 20.
:* Hits Stamina by default. If the Genjutsu deals Vitality damage, it hits Vitality instead but at 1/10th the amount.
:* Does not apply for AoE or Eye Contact Genjutsu.
:* Deals 1/3 damage for Remote Genjutsu.
:* If the caster has Super Genjutsu, you also take a 1 second Screw (Target Genjutsu only, 10 second cooldown).

Area of Effect Genjutsus create a field of chakra that can affect multiple people at once.

The effect will wear off if the user is hit. (Keep this in mind if you cannot Kai the Genjutsu).
Drains chakra upon activation and continuously after in order to upkeep the field of chakra.
When there is an unpassable wall between the caster and target, after 5 ticks the Genjutsu becomes kaiable while the target is within 11 tiles. A Kai indicator will appear above your head.
After 5 ticks, an arrow reveals the caster's general direction for 2 seconds (does not update as they move).

Remote Genjutsus allow you to place a small AoE field on the ground that takes effect when the enemy steps in its range. The user is able to move freely after placing it. See Remote Genjutsu for details.
